It's Commenting Month at :iconcrphotography:

This is a  technical and great shot! Ulysses is well centered and almost perfectly symmetric. The white background and detail in his feathers are perfect for stock use. His eyes are vibrant, and he cocks his head just a tiny bit (might just be me).
It's a perfect photo of an Eagle Owl, but he's not showing much expression. In 22, he looks far more menacing, really sort of showing character. He seems kind of dull-witted in this one :hmm: It's stunning either way, but if he'd looked a bit more peculiar I would have liked it even better :)

Thanks for the comment!

I tried to get him to be centered. I wasn't so sure about the white background (didn't have a choice on that though!) but I am glad it will be useful! :) There comes a point when he isn't very interested or enthused by me taking a bunch of photos of him.  Thanks so much for your input! :)

I have to agree about the others regarding your composition.  It was definitely a good idea to center-crop on Ulysses - it compliments his straight-on pose and gives it a kind of imposing (I was going to say aggressive, but that might be a little too intense of a description) air to the image.  It definitely fits the predatory bird.

You chose a good aperture for the photo, I like how most of him is in focus as opposed to just the eyes or just his face.  I have such a soft spot for barred feathers, so you get extra bonus points for catching the details in them!

Thank you very much! I am not used to cropping my photos much, so I was hoping it wouldn't look weird being more square than most of my other photos. I am glad you like it!

I usually try to get just the eyes in focus. I have been trying to get some good full body photos lately though, so I have been changing things up a little with my aperture. I do what I can! ;D

Ulysses made a great shot. It is perfectly centered - on either side cropped as much as to place it in the middle. You have zoomed it fantastically, so every detail of the feathers are visible. Impressive are the great round amber eyes - very vigilant and protective as well. The owl looks wise with its high brow and its deep-lying eyes - and proud and sure of itself. Owls have ever been ancient and strange beings of wisdom and tidings for me.

Keep up that great work.

Thank you so much! :D I have a tough time with focusing sometimes, so I am glad the details are clear.

Amazing shot! The textures, the color.....wow! The thing I like most about it is how up-close and personal it feels.
