Congo, my sponsor's Augur Buzzard.

Please give me credit if you use my photo! I would love to see what you make, so send me a link! :)

hmmm can you tell me more about Augur buzzards? their behavior in captivity/flying, can they hunt? is it easy to buy them in Europe?
It's a beautiful bird, I don't know if it's just the photo but it looks like a cool black CB with big almost harris-like feet!

I am not sure about them in Europe, but they are difficult to get here in the states. Not many people are successfully breeding them here, and when they do, they usually keep the offspring. He is similar the North America's Red Tailed Hawk when it comes to size and the tail color, but the Augur Buzzard has a shorter tail. They are naturally soaring birds. Short flights can be a bit difficult for them if they are too long. They do best if they start someplace high and glide down. I don't know much on their usual behavior, this one is an imprint. An aggressive one at that. My sponsor has hunted with him before. He doesn't now because he is too important to our show to risk injury and he is starting to get old. They are the most common bird of prey in Africa and they come in two color phases, light and dark. The light phase has a white chest and belly.

No problem! I love giving info about him. :) We were trying to get our hands on another one for our show so we could retire him, but we haven't found anyone that successfully breeds and sells then here :p
