My Art:

I am mainly a photographer. I am fairly new to photography, but I have spent most of my time lately trying to improve. Most of my photos are of animals, especially birds of prey. I spend almost all of my time around animals and find that they really inspire me and help me with my art. I have a Canon 50D, a 55-250mm lens, and a 100-400mm lens.

I also occasionally draw and paint with watercolors. I haven't been doing a whole lot beside photography lately.

:bulletred: I just recently created a Facebook page for my photography. Please check it out and like it! www.facebook.com/Edgedfeatherp…

About Me:

My name is Cryss. I'm from Lititz, Pennsylvania.

I spend part of the year in Pennsylvania helping to do bird shows at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, and part of the year in Oklahoma working on a horse ranch and helping to do bird shows at the Castle of Muskogee.

I am working on becoming a falconer. Falconry is a huge part of my life. I help my sponsor do his bird shows at Renaissance Faires and love every second of it. I will be getting my own bird very soon and cannot wait!

Interests
That's right! Last night we picked up two new birds! We are very excited to have them both!

The first bird is a juvenile male Ferruginous Hawk. He doesn't have a name yet. He is totally untrained, so we are starting from the beginning with him.

Here he is:

The second bird is a 10 year old female light phase Augur Buzzard. Her name is Sia. She is very large and very beautiful! I gotta say, it's really nice to have an Augur that I can handle without it trying to kill me like Congo does!

Here she is:

Your photos are awesome! Totally jealous of your birds ;)

Perhaps you can settle a debate between my husband and me. He thinks it's possible to hold a raptor on your arm without a glove, without it harming you. I think it would be stupid.

Thoughts? :D

Thank you very much! :)

Ha, it is actually very possible. The glove we wear is for two reasons. One, yes to help protect us from their talons. Two, it actually is much more comfy for them to grip onto stiff leather than it is to grip onto our skin. But they don't try to hurt us when they perch on us, so if you have a bird that is comfortable and calm, they can sit very well on bare skin. (Still doesn't make it a great idea though!)
